What an inspection technician does opravdu does

The annual operational inspection is not just an "extra sticker". The professional procedure follows four steps according to Decree No. 246/2001 Coll. And ČSN EN 3.

  1. Krok 01
    Visual inspection of the unit

Condition of the casing, seal fuse intact, pressure gauge in the green zone, undamaged hoses. Label with the date of the last inspection. Manufacturer identification details.

  2. Krok 02

Access to the unit within 25 m, height 1.1-1.5 m, visible label according to ČSN EN 671-1 and ISO 7010. Interruption of the customer's leak.

    Pressure test (periodic)

Draining, dismantling, and shell strength test at the testing facility. Replacement of acid/refrigerant charge and new sealing ring. Stamping and certification.

  4. Krok 04

Businesses and offices

All legal entities. The minimum number and type are determined by Decree 246/2001 Coll., based on risk and the number of employees.

Skupina 02

Sole traders and business owners

Individuals operating businesses, hairdressers, dental practices, shops, must have fire safety personnel available.

Skupina 03

Owners' associations and apartment buildings

Owners' associations are required to have fire extinguishers in every building, corridors, cellars and boiler rooms. Typically 5-15 units per building.

Skupina 04

Restaurace, bary, hotely

Higher fire risk means more appliances. Kitchens require special types (Class F for grease, CO₂ for electrical fires).

Skupina 05

Sklady a prodejny

The number of units depends on the area and type of goods. Electronics and chemicals require specific types of fire extinguishers.

Kapitola VI
VI.

Mandatory documentation and records

During a Fire Rescue Service inspection, the first question is "where is the fire safety logbook". Three types of documentation you must have ready.

On-site evidence

Fire extinguisher logbook

  • § Number (inventory / RFID) and location of each device
  • § Type and contents (P6 ABC, V9 water, S5 CO₂…)
  • § Date of purchase and manufacture
  • § Date and signature of operational inspection (1× per year)
  • § Date and stamp of the inspection company
  • § Notes on damage, replacement or disposal
Issued by an inspection company

Inspection reports

  • § Stamp and signature of a certified technician
  • § List of inspected devices and their condition
  • § Identified defects and their classification
  • § Recommended next inspection interval
  • § Archiving for a minimum of 3 years
  • § Copy held by both the operator and the inspection company
Visibly on site

Labels & lists

  • § Labels on individual devices with dates
  • § Overview plan with locations in reception or at the entrance
  • § Annual maintenance plan (inspection calendar)
  • § Signage for directions and escape routes (CSN ISO 7010)
  • § Photo documentation of the condition before/after inspection
  • § Electronic backup (cloud / NAS)

During a fire brigade inspection, these documents are checked. Missing logbook or incomplete records lead to a shutdown of operations with no possibility of on-site remediation.

Kapitola VII

For the building's owners' association and companies

PThe chairman of the building's owners' association or the company operator is responsible for ensuring that every fire extinguisher has a current label. A standard residential building in Prague has 8-20 units (corridors, basement, boiler room), while a company with premises often has 50+. Dealing with them individually is foolish.

We will arrange one appointment for the entire property. The technician arrives with a trolley, inspects all units and issues a report. one summary protocol + entry in the fire safety logbook. Completed within a single morning.

Frequently asked questions from readers

  1. 01

What fire extinguishers must the building's owners' association and residential buildings have?

Decree 246/2001 stipulates: at least one portable powder extinguisher (P6) per floor on every staircase or for every 200 m² of floor area. Common areas (cellars, garages, boiler rooms) according to fire load.

  2. 02

How often must fire extinguisher inspections be carried out?

Operational check once a year (visual, inspection of location and marking). Periodic pressure test after 3, 5 or 10 years depending on type (water/foam 5 years, powder 3 or 5 years, snow 10 years).
